11 random things

So, Caroline has tagged me to do this 11 random things post. Considering I've yet to finish my Q and A post and I am a complete stranger now in blog land I should probably put this off too but what the heck! I really do plan to make a reappearance soon as I have some Brooks reviews of some great gear that I want to do and I also just miss being a part of the blog community. My life is so busy this winter (excuse #1) Three extensively traveling competitive athletes (excuse #2) and a mom who's working and marathon training (excuses #3 and #4) are leaving me SO little time right now.

So, here goes.

1. Post these rules
2. You must post 11 random things about yourself
3. Answer the questions set for you in their post
4. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer
5. Go to their blog and tell them you’ve tagged them
6. No stuff in the tagging section about you are tagged if you are reading this. You legitimately have to tag 11 people!

Yes, we all know how much I love to follow the rules.....I will go with 1-3 and then break the chain which will give me 11 years of bad luck? Or will I miss out on some get rich quick pyramid scheme...Probably both. Consider yourself tagged with Caroline's questions if you want to play along!

1. What is your favorite brand of running shoes?

Without a doubt Brooks! My first pair of Brooks Launch early 2010 sealed the deal for me. I had run in Asics Nimbus, Mizuno Wave Riders, and Nike Frees prior, all of which got me through races but nothing ever felt quite as right on my foot as the Brooks Launch. To this day, this is my favorite shoe for racing and training. I also have the PureFlow which I wore for my most recent marathon, PureGrit, Cascadia's, and T7's. Not sure I will find a better match for my foot than the Brooks Launch and if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

2. Favorite book you have read recently?

Running on Empty. Thanks to a good friend! Finished this in two sittings (through the night) while drinking jumbo mugs of BOLD coffee:)

3. Letterman or Leno?

Letterman although I rarely watch either of these. Used to love Letterman in college but this was....let me see....like 18 years ago-ha!

4. How are you today?

Well, I'm fine thank you:) I'm smiling! Thankful for life, thankful for kids who keep me on my toes, thankful for a healthy body, thankful for constant obstacles in my path that provide me with daily challenges and daily rewards when I scale them......my husband is shaking his head and telling me I'm full of shit....He is right. I am stressed out today-thereyago:)

5. Who is someone you admire?

Wow, I could write pages here. Many many people I admire for many different reasons....I'm going to say my dad. A father to 6 girls maybe not what he had in mind but at this stage of life, he's LOVING it! My dad also runs-took up distance running at age 56. Some of my greatest conversations in life have been on long runs with my dad. He is always able to put everything in perspective for me. The wisest of the wise in my eyes.

6. Reality TV: yes? no? if yes...confess the worst...I won't tell anyone

Sure. If I bump into it. I almost never watch TV though. I watch TV shows via Netflix late at night occasionally but I'm not home during Primetime to watch current shows very often. I'm very very behind in Hollywood-ha!

7. What makes you laugh?

I LOVE to laugh and I have a crazy wacky sense of humor. My sisters Keri and Christy REALLY know how to make me laugh. All we need to do is sit in the front row of a church during a service. No words are needed, nothing has to happen, we will just erupt in laughter like 12 year olds.....

8. Why are the Kardashians famous again?

OJ maybe?? Bruce Jenner? My God, what a disaster. I once ran on the treadmill while watching the Kardashian wedding only because the guy (forget his name) was a basketball player from MN....this is the only time I've seen the show.

9. Favorite Olympic moment?

Lots of these!! I'm not sure about favorite at the time..... Of course being from hockey country my favorite Olympic moment recaptured would likely be the Miracle on Ice team from 1980 in Men's hockey. Truthfully, I remember little of this when it actually happened as I was 5 years old but my dad was a huge hockey fan and I was his "boy" and I do vaguely remember this!! I know personally some of these players now and hockey tradition is huge here so lots of stories! My daughter has seen the movie "Miracle" maybe 400 times.....The Vancouver Olympics also memorable as a friend was playing on the women's Olympic hockey team. Lillehammer was when I was in college and the big figure skating scandal so I was a bit wrapped up in that. The first time I ever watched the marathon was Constantina's win. I had just started running. I had probably just found out that a marathon was 26.2 miles:)

10. What is something you cannot stand?

Drama

11. When is your next race?

Well, on paper it's Boston. I am hoping for one sooner but it will be a last minute decision with my kids and their tournament schedules.

SO, I'm off to spend a few minutes catching up on YOUR blogs as I need to wait for the "freezing fog" to lift before I can run. This is an actual thing, "freezing fog" I cannot see 2 feet in front of me and the roads are slick as can be. We have no running paths here so unless I want to meet up with a semi in the abyss, I will have to wait a little bit before I can head out. Back in the car this afternoon for another hockey filled weekend! Have a good one y'all. I will back with some Brooks reviews-maybe I'll Vlog these if I can find time to get my haircut. I do have some pride here.....A bunch of other posts going through my mind that I would like to sit down and write as well. In the meantime, I will continue to stalk my blog roll on my phone:)

Hey you!!! You're alive!!! Yay!! Jk.
I don't know what it is about the way u write but I have yet to not enjoy reading one if your posts.
I am in bed on my iPhone and I can hear my 4 yr old out there screaming so this will be quick.
Brooks. There really is something about that launch. I agree I have never put on another shoe that seems to feel like such a perfect fit. I love my launches for racing! My new ones arrive today!!!!!! Woohoo!!

Dads. My dad is my best friend. Even though my parents divorced when I was 3 we spent every other weekend with him and of us 3 girls I was his boy also!!! My entire life he called me his boy " be a good little boy today" as he rubbed my head. I loved it. I tease him now and tell him thank goodness I didn't end up with gender confusion!! Lol. Truth is I knew it was a form of endearment. I was his youngest girl and I think they planned for me to be a boy:). I was always the sportiest play in the dirt and mudd kid anyway. Now that I am older we are even closer and we talk on the phone everyday.

Sorry you are stressed today!! Hope your weekend is good and your kids kick some hockey butt!!!!

Xxx

There you are! Yay! Sounds like you're surviving the winter madness :) And these things are NOT like chain letters...there is no curse for not passing them on or even for not doing them :) I've never tried the Launch. I tried the Ghost and wasn't crazy about it. I've been using the Miz Wave Rider lately...hmmmm...

Love your admiration for Dad. Good dads are the BEST :) And o man... I totally remember the Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding debacle! That whole thing actually helped me win a lawsuit!

Hang in there, Hockeymamma! Do get some time in there for YOU :)

You and I are both slackers, although I really have no excuse:)
yes to what Nicole said. You always make me laugh. I often read sentences of yours to Chris and we both agree you missed your calling and should ahve become a comedian (not too late - see, all the options you have once the kiddies get older).
Yes, do some Brooks reviews. You ahve A TON of Brooks gear. I am planning on reviewing everything I get:)

Running on Empty, hm, never heard of it:)
Yes, you need some races. Your body can handle them and you will benefit from added confidence. I would love to see that HM training PR shattered. I have zero doubt that you will get a sub 1:30 in a HM sometimes in March, if you choose to do one.
OK, back to work. Nice to see a Jenn post.

Running on Empty was a really good book! I loved it!

I also watched the Kardashian wedding and no joke the next day they announced they were getting divorced. Then it seemed like a double waste of time for me to watch it!

Good luck with the frozen fog. That sounds god awful...although we have a foot and half of snow right now which is also god awful!!

Okay, I'm coming over to borrow your copy of ROE. So glad to check in real quick and see a Jenn post. I miss you. Won't leave a huge comment here other than to say that I'm happy to read this and hope to get back with a better comment when it is a better time for blog commenting. :)
