My Virtual Boston sign and Mishmash.....

Nothing to blog about because let's just face it, I'm not running Boston and that's where all the excitement is this week!!! I AM however virtually cheering for those running Boston!!!! SO excited!!

Thankyou to my 7 year old photographer.....And if I forgot someone, it's entirely unintentional. I sometimes forget where the milk goes and put it in the cupboard with the oatmeal. Rest Assured, I'm cheering for EVERYONE!!!

Random bullets.

*Minnesota got dumped on with A LOT of snow again. Nasty nasty wind and SNOW. This is NO problem for people who have to run 20 miles. Some people LIKE running 20 miles on the treadmill.....hmmm......some people like hotdish, some people know how to answer their voicemail, some people wash their hair with Suave....I don't know these people...

*My husband is likely at home spackling the doorway to our spare bedroom right now! He was doing pullups (pullup bar in the door jam) when all of a sudden he crashed to the floor WITH the bar and the door molding, a nice chunk of drywall and a fair amount of dust. His knee was bleeding and I was having a seizure laughing!!!! Seriously, I'm not sure I've EVER laughed this hard. I'm sympathetic like that....I should mention he also had a bit of a laughfest the time I rode my bike into a light pole, screwed up my bike and ended my chances to bear any more children....*DISCLAIMER* In this marriage, it's OK to laugh at each other when we hurt ourselves (as long as it's not seriously ). Hit me with a car on the other hand and....well yeah-no laughing....

*My son went to the circus with his class this week. He was SO excited. He came home with a LOUD light up laser gun. Apparently, it's a LOUD light up laser gun with batteries that NEVER DIE!!!!! Am I a bad mother if I secretly take a meat hammer to this thing???

*My daughter has a boyfriend.....He calls me Mrs. Strand and is very polite to my other kids which somehow helps me overlook the fact that he is practically bigger than my husband....I have perfected my "look". You know.... the one that says I will smash your Iphone if you disrespect my daughter......

*My NON-virtual runner friend Heidi just ran a 1:22 and took 2nd overall female this morning in freezing weather at the St. Cloud Earth Day HM!!!!!!!! UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE!!

Training update:

Week started off rough but finishing fairly strong.

Running:
Monday-8 easy @ 8:10-not following the plan....
Tuesday- 3.4 miles am easy and felt terrible-once again could not seem to break into the planned workout. 7.2 mile tempo in the afternoon with my hubby(still not following the plan) This went better but still felt tough.
Wednesday - 7 miles easy on the TM
Thursday -13.1 outside. Finished in 1:38:19 and was at 40:20 at the 5 mile so strong finish for the last 8.
Friday-10 easy on the treadmill-SO BORING
Today-off
Sunday-20 miles

Put quite a few miles in on the bike which I was happy about! I was biking a lot last August-October when I was rehabbing my hip (FNSF) and really really enjoyed it. I'm planning for a pretty heavy week with both running and biking this coming week.

And just to be sure I'm random enough!! I was looking for a picture of my heel strike the other day and I came across this! Julia, GO BIG GREEN right next to me in the starting corral of the 10 mile last March. Small world as I bumped into her through the blog world way after this race! Funny. Also-I'm pretty sure she smoked me! I can't believe I wore shorts to this race. It was obviously freezing.....Oh-and if one person dares to make fun of my ponytail holder I will virtually hurt you. It was St. Patrick's Day and I was trying to be festive...

ONCE AGAIN-GOOD LUCK BOSTON RUNNERS!!!!!! And leaving you with my favorite sign I've seen in a marathon. "26.2 because 26.3 would just be CRAAAAZZZZY"

Yikes, I feel guilty for complaining about the slightly chilly weather here. Your sign is fantastic, love it!

Love the sign. That's awesome!

The weather in NYC is nasty, like Meg said it is in Boston, but at least it's just rain and not snow. Although it felt like winter when we were out earlier today. I really hope Spring arrives soon and sticks around for a bit.

I'm so glad we avoided the snow (so sorry though). I can only imagine the hilarity that ensued when the hubs fell. Oh man...why is it so funny when things like that happen?

Snow in April...it's just so wrong. I almost can't look at the treadmill anymore, so I can only imagine how you feel! And I was cursing the 40 degree weather here this morning...

My daughter came home with the most obnoxious light up butterfly wand thing from the circus one time--it played some sort of Chinese techno music. I made sure to put that thing up on a HIGH shelf real fast.

Hope your 20-miler on the treadmill isn't too unbearable tomorrow!!

Great sign! That was a lot of work!!! Next year we'll be there, too, right?

We have the same laughing rule over here, except I end up kicking my husband when he laughs, bc he does look like he has seizures and I am in pain. I am such a clutz, though, and often trip, fall, bump into things...Hope your husband is OK. We have the same type of pull up bar though I doubt my 136 lbs pounds 6'1 husband would get it in trouble.

Ryan has a boyfriend! How exciting! Ooo, I wonder how that feels. Somehow must be easier with a boy, Mrs. Strand:)

OK, I did not count your miles but did you run something like 70+ this week? Holly batman! Plus the biking. Awesome! I am so excited to see you PRing the $hit out of all your races.

26.3 too crazy - bahahahahah! I love that - I need a shirt out of that. Of course 1.3 is pretty far for me these days :(.

Ah the boyfriend. Well, my daughter went to an all-girls Catholic high school and never once had a boyfriend. Never even went to a dance for that matter (but she's pretty shy!) but now she has had one for over a year now. Fun times when you take them to the clinic to get "pills" - hopefully you have awhile. :)

I'm missing ya in Boston this year Jenn - and I'm not there either. I was just thinking about Boston last year and meeting you at the big birthday gala! I couldn't wait and then Meg called me cuz I was having a mini-meltdown about my heel and she said, "Jill, your idol is here waiting for you..." Hahah...sorry I was late.

I shouldn't mention that it was 71 here today, right?

Excellent training week - woohoo!

xo

Wow, your miles put mine to SHAME. I got 40 this week. pathetic! You amaze me Jenn...AND you are doing the bike?! Wow!

A boyfriend?! I will never be ready for that day. Am already practicing the face with E's kinder boyfriends...she's already boy crazy.

I am still laughing from this story about Joe from when you told me earlier this week. have not stopped.

This sign is so awesome. Nothing like mine! put the one you made for me on there. :)

As always, I'm inspired to do more after reading your posts. :)

Love your sign!! That story about your husband is freaking fantastic!! If it wasn't for the repair...I'd wish it would happen to my husband! Your training is ROCKSTAR. Very inspiring. Great week!

That's too funny about the pull up mishap. I've often wondered if that is going to happen to us!

Great sign - "because 26.3 would just be crazy!"

Love a good race sign!!!

I LOVE that quote at the end...hilarious!! LOVE YOUR SIGN and girl you really need to start modeling. A BOYFRIEND!?!?! AHHHH:) I love the circus too!! GREAT WORKOUTS and thank you so much for your encouraging comments, you ALWAYS make my day!

You are such a good rah-rah! That sign is amazing! Even those of us who aren't running are loving it :)

I love that story about your husband... and that you two laugh at each other that way... we do that too. It's good to know there are other crazy-in-love (or is it just weird?) couples out there.

Way to go with the mileage... AND the biking! And I really hope this winter crap just gives it a freakin' rest for your sake!

the boyfriend is bigger than the husband???? Better get that drywall and that pullup bar up as quickly as possible. This "look" you have can only work for so long. (a photo of said "look" would be nice though).

GoBigGreen said...

HAHAHA that is so funny. I KNEW IT WAS YOU!
Look at me. I am hugging myself to stay warm. And um I think i "smoked" you by about 30 sec? IF THAT!
Hey i like hotdish? Shi$ if we get more snow i am making wild rice casserole:)

Jess @ Blonde Ponytail said...

It just snowed here too! Bleh!!!

I loved your sign--so many bloggy buddies running!! EXCITING! I 'll make one next year with YOUR name on it!!!!

Raina said...

Did you remove a sign? I saw one in the race today that said "because 26.3 is just too crazy" and it was near the top of those dang hills...I almost stopped to slap the person, but knew I'd never get going again...hahahaha! Anyhow, I LOVE the one you have up on your page! =D

BTW, my Garmin read 26.55. So I must be super crazy! Does that make me an ultra runner?? lol. No tangents in my favor today.

OK.....so about the training you are doing. Sounds like a pretty good clip for the 13.1! And the miles....wow! Snow I can do- wind I do not like much...

Hubby and the pull-ups..OMGOODNESS..That is just too dang funny!! I need to see if someone ran over their hand now....

Do you have a shot gun cleaned out for the boyfriend? Make him mw the lawn this summer. Good excuse for extortion.

Your friend is and incredible runner. holy moly.

Jenn, I just love your blogs. Real life is good reading material. Thanks for the sign love!! Hugs from the Boston area!!
