20 and the WEEKEND!!!!

TGIF!!!!!

I ran 20 miles outside this morning!!! I haven't run a 20 miler since my death by treadmill attempt. I haven't run an outdoor 20 since my proof I could still run a marathon run. There is something just exhilarating about the number 20! I think it's my favorite number. Just seeing the number 20 written in my running log or on my GarminConnect can completely change my thought process and rejuvenate my spirit!!! I've ALSO found, there is a direct correlation between running 20 miles and me fixing my hair and putting makeup on-ha! I have NO desire to sit on the couch and relax when I get a good long run in! Time to go out and celebrate!!

Speaking of celebrating, I am heading out here for a weekend of FUN!!!! "Chick car" leaves at 3:30 so we can make some "essential" stops and "Man bus" will be shortly behind!! I can not explain how much I've been looking forward to this weekend. It's practically a honeymoon for me (with two other couples). I'm excited for girl time, Joe time, GOOD food, GOOD wine! Joe is making me promise to let him lay in bed until at least 6 am in the morning this time. Boston last year, I did not sleep at all (except the night before the race oddly enough) and made him get up with me by 5 every morning. We also went to St. Maarten and I made him be up walking on the beach by 5:30am. Maybe he wants a new wife.....Anyway, I feel like I'm COMPLETELY relaxed having my long run done and I'm out to THOROUGHLY enjoy myself!!!

And now, true to the random:

*I got 3 stitches in my hand while trying to make my daughters birthday cake.

*Reese was invited to play in the MN Selects hockey tournament this weekend. She has friends on the team, she won't miss me a bit, and I'm not going to let myself feel guilty about not being there!

*As I was driving to work yesterday (30 minute drive) I caught a glimpse of the sun and got an overwhelming urge to roll down my window and whip out a cigarette! I DON'T smoke! I hate smoking!!!!! I didn't obviously but where did this come from!

*I had 9 girls spend the night over here last night (yes, a school night). I honestly think I'm really 13 sometimes but just I'm trapped in a web of gray hair and crow's feet!!

*I just snagged my sister's cleaning lady to come and clean my house-pathetic perhaps....

*Ryan had a great birthday!

I love this picture because the look on Max's face says I'm a child abuser that is making him sit next to his sister while she opens her presents! Yes, that's snow in the background.

*It started snowing AGAIN a few minutes ago.

I'm going to run a 5K next weekend. I've run ONE race in the last 9 months.....I almost decided NOT to run this particular race even though it's nearly in my backyard. It isn't certified, the course is LONG, and I have little chance to PR. All good reasons to avoid forced speedwork even if it's for a good cause-right!!! WRONG....I need to get a handle on my thoughts here. I'm coming to the realization that I NEED to race more, RISK more.... I can't "dream" myself to another level, I need to "work" myself there. Can I do this? Do I really want this?... I don't know...At this moment, I do, because I'm high from running 20 GOOD miles this morning(not sure if I mentioned that-ha!)....

Good luck to those racing this weekend! There's a couple of race reports I'm VERY anxious to read!!

I'll bet there is a gadget that could have helped you out with that cake ;-) What a bummer about the cut :( I hope it heals fast!
Congrats to Reese!

Wow! What a week...
Did you hack off your fingers with a knife and then get them stitched back on? OW!
20 miles is just amazing- I can't imagine running that far and my imagination is pretty good.
Have a fabulous weekend! Hope that you have a wonderful time and manage to sleep in.

OH happy runner's high! I bet it has carried you through the day! I have a 15 miler coming up a an hour and the sunshine is out and the skies are blue and I will be wearing shorts and a tank top! woooo hoooo!! Don't know what to do with myself.

You are so 13 with your humor...I love love love that about you. I love that I could send you a picture of the skunk and his junk and you thought it was as funny as I did. :) You're awesome to have a sleepover at your house! I have not done this yet but my kids are still young.

Oh, I so hope you have the best best time this weekend. Um, you are crazy to get up that early. I'd be milking sleep for all it is worth! I'd be rolling out of bed at like 9 or 10 and then after some hot sex I'd roll back over and sleep some more! Ha ha!

Awesome that you'll be running the 5k next weekend. I'll be running the 10k on sunday...it is official and it will be nice! wooo hooo! Not sure what I'm shooting for but it would be nice to have at least a few sub 7's!

Okay, I'm done writing a book. Happy day and weekend to you my friend!

Yay for 20 miles! I sense your confidence coming back and I like that. Yes, go and race! Even if the course is long, you never know, the PR might be there. In any case, you'll have the Garmin; sometimes I make comparisons based on my Garmin pace:)

You know, I often think I am a 5 y old with 40% gray an a frown line between my eyes! Ha, need to thank mom for that one!

I am so excited about sleepovers. Would love to have Petru's little friends over right now, but Chris has vetoed this saying they are too young. So awesome you have such a great relationship with your kids.

Have a great weekend. When I go away, I sleep in but Chris is always up early. Sometimes he goes and has breakfast nr. 1 around 6-7 am, and than we have breakfast nr 2 (for him) together. Yes, he's got the metabolism of a teenage boy, I hate that about him! have a ball, and tell us all about it when you get back!

WTG on the 20. Girl, you put me to shame! =D

I am kind of curious how you got cut so bad making a cake...

REVENGE on the 5K!!! WAHOOOO Long course? I never know that kind of stuff...But i do like certified. Makes it a bit more "official" (for me- for you it could be 3.09 and I'd be OK with it...:) )

I am almost more excited about your impeding 5k revenge than I am about Boston!!!!!! Is that enough exclamation points to show it?!

Max busts me up. hahahha! What a brother!

have an espresso with that marlboro!!! =D

I actually used to be a smoker so I get that urge sometimes. I have 10 kids over here RIGHT NOW and I'm still up. Right now they are drawing funny faces on paper and putting them over the heads of my daughter (the birthday girl) who was ironically the first lady to pass out tonight. I love slumber parties. haha

20 is a great number, it was my number on the high school volleyball team and you KNOW how I feel about 20 milers.

our vacations are the same, I'm up waiting, waiting, waiting for my hubby to get up so that we can get the vaca started. I've found he's a much better vacationer if I let him get his sleep first. HA!

maybe next time you should hire out the cake making too. lol :)

I think it was the 9 girl sleep over giving you the urge to smoke - CRAZY! but I bet your the best sleep over Mom

yes, run, run, run that 5k You can always hit a "lap" at 3.1 to get your "real" 5k time. I HATE inaccurate courses, but unfortunately it's very common.

Yeah for a great outdoor 20 miler! I love that 20-milers lead to make-up and hair styling.

I hope your hand is okay. Ouch!

That is so funny about the cigarette.

Have a wonderful weekend!
