What's new and random and completely unrelated......

Another no thought COMPLETELY random post on the fly!

Ryan's team won the Region and we're off to the State tournament in two weeks! So exciting! We are taking a team charter bus. State warmup outfits, charter bus, 3 hotel nights, ritzy banquet and dress clothes, food, gate fees, celebratory champagne(ha) = one year of college education......my kids better be good enough athletes or good enough students if they want any sort of future-ha! The great part is ALL five of us get to travel together! MUCH needed time as a family!

Did some running in Duluth. I ran up this.....(picture does NOT do justice)

And down this....

And others like it for 16 miles. My butt and calves are TIGHT TIGHT. Although I didn't thoroughly enjoy parts of this run, my pace says I was pushin' on the uphills and cruisin' on the downhills and it was faster than my last long run on flat terrain??? I think I'm getting stronger.

I don't know how to smile and take my own picture. Could I look any more like death. Gave the hotel fitness center a whirl after my hill torture-the weights and workout equipment must be original to the 1908 hotel......

I played a hockey game against my kid last night! Hockey pants, shoulder pads, and shinpads are SO feminine and flattering. We had so much fun and my shirt under all those pads was ABSOLUTELY saturated. Really a great workout and a definite reminder that I have NO fast twitch muscles! The moms have really enjoyed our little league this year. After we figure out how to beat 10 year old girls we're gonna whoop up on some men!!! Oh-and hill running plus ice skating means I looked like I had a stick shoved all the way up my ass this morning at the gym and I may or may not have yelped LOUDLY when trying to do squats:)

Reese and I decided we don't like this picture. Bad hair and quite unflattering-ha! We like the one below better. Hmmm-I think she's wearing shorts. That was at least 6 months ago. I think I need to take more pictures with my kids-this is the only one I could find of the two of us!!

My husband is working out of town all week but when he comes home on Thursday, no more travel for a MONTH!! I miss my family, it's starting to wear me down and stress me out to be apart so much.

My sister and her family is coming to stay with us this weekend for Theo's shower and dedication! I'm so excited for late night gossip sessions and sisterly bonding!! I need to work on babyproofing my house here. My niece ate 3 rocks out of the bowl on the coffee table last time she was here...

Oh-and one more COMPLETELY random photo. I was at the local sporting goods store sharpening skates and I saw this on the big wall calendar! I'm married to Mr. October! These boys were pretty proud of this one and unfortunately I need to find wall space for this dang ginormous stuffed animal.....I don't think Pottery Barn will be asking to profile my house......animals in the entry way, treadmills in the kitchen, hockey equipment drying in the dining room....

I am in week 2 of my marathon plan. Finished last week with 61 miles. I am constantly struggling with my confidence these days. I seem to gain it a bit when my runs are over and I can evaluate them, but I'm just having a terrible time during them. I really hope this takes a shift soon. 9 miles-4X5minute@10K on the docket today. That doesn't bad but we'll see. Happy Tuesday!

Your house sounds much cozier and more fun than a Pottery Barn house :-)

Mr. October, huh?
Lucky GIRL!

61 MILES! You are amazing! Way to go - you can do anything -especially with all those hills you were running!

And congrats to your daughter! Good luck in two weeks!

Yes...that does look like the Dultuh hilss I have seen after driving through a few times. They are alot nastier than they look.

I am thinking that you should not get bent on winter running times. There is no real comparison for running when its warmer and you don't have 10 lbs of layers on.

Have fun at the next hockey weekend!!!

Yay for Ryan! And you will get to travel with your family!! This is so wonderful! How fun. How fun to try your hand at Hockey but walking around like you have a stick up your butt is no fun! :) You crack me up with your description of your house...beats my house right now...construction...all my kitchen stuff in my living room...so crazy! You have a beautiful family...hot hubby, cute kids and a killer body for yourself! 61 miles! This is great! I thought I was doing good at 50. :) Keep trusting in yourself. You really are amazing Jenn! An inspiration to all of us!

Hope you have fun with your sisters. This is so special to have them.

You should probably combine the antlers and the gear drying, would save on space.

Those hills look killer! So impressive. And my family's house is the same way. Animals on the walls...basketball equipment and running shoes everywhere...yup that's us! But we sure love it!

Those do ook like some big hills! I bet that was a workout. I like that the pace was solid despite it! :)

Yes...take out the rock ornaments. haha. The dedication will be beautiful. Enjoy the girl time again.

Aaah....You and Reese look good in sweat :)
And doesn't any man look hotter with a nice rack of animal head?
:)

Great job on week 2!

61 miles already. Wow! You are hard core. It looks like that run was tough. Have a ton of fun with your family. Sounds like a great time.
I never dated/married/anything with a calendar guy!

Yes, you are getting stronger! Those hills look like mountains, and I know that they seem smaller in pictures! Maybe you need to keep traveling...you know, for the hills (OK, don't kill me!)

I love that pic with you and Reese! From all the kids, she looks the most like you!

Awesome about the men in your family! True bonding! I think you will need a room for all the stuff they bring on...this is just the beginning, I think!

My house is a complete disaster. Always. My bike is in my living room. I have signs on all my walls (yes, my son "is not ready", as my husband says, to take them off). I have given up!

congrats Ryan!!
I love all the hockey pics!!!
this is so great that YOU played!!
those hills look HARD!
61 miles! I ADMIRE you. I do just 1/3 of that and I have just 2 kids!

Yay, Duluth! I give you kudos--I haven't been brave enough to try the hills yet! I'm sticking to the nice, relatively flat Lakewalk. ;)
Congrats to Ryan!! That sounds like a fun time! And congrats to Mr. October as well ;)

Yay for Ryan!! That is awesome. Ummm...and those hills. DANG GIRL. I'm impressed. That looks like some extreme butt kicking.
How is baby Theo doing!?!?

you must not eat in the dining room. hockey equipment is stank!

congrats to ryan and her team! hope you have a good local 2-yr college ;) kidding kidding.

hey we are stick-up-the-butt twins this week. it's a really professional look at the office...

I wonder if that hill is in Grandmas Marathon - I hope not, yikes! But girl you are getting wickedly stronger - and faster. We were just discussing amongst the track coaches at school how high mileage actually makes you a faster runner. See any elite runners running 3 times/week? I think not! Just pause when you feel an awkward ache or something not right, ok!?!

Sorry I've been blog absent and missed this earlier. Just not easy to get online and watch everyone run...I remember your blog absence last summer (so missed you) so trying not to go totally AWOL. Maybe I'll post about our Tempo shorts :).

Congrats to your daughter's win...and so so sooo glad you're getting some great family away time!!
