My dental nightmare and Jenn meets car....

So, because my day was SO eventful I feel I should document it:)

Woke up this morning. Did not feel like working out so did NOT work out. I did a weight workout later last night and it drained me. That's my excuse anyway:)

Got the kids ready for school, loaded up the vehicle and headed to work.

Made it to work, saw we had 3 cancellations and decided to finally get myself in the dental chair for a root canal and a crown prep. (Or I was forced to rather by my boss) I've been totally postponing this and I quickly remembered why. The right side of my scrub shirt wore my drool for about 3 hours and the rest of the day's patients thought I was drunk...I wished I was drunk....I HATE novocaine.

Got done with work EARLY! Woohoo! Picked up my kids, fed them pancakes for supper because I am not as organized as last week. Reese was jealous of my food but I don't share so she had to have pancakes too.

Took Ryan to youth group and the other 2 to open hockey and headed out on my run. 17 degrees, light snow, north wind. I've totally thrown my plan out the window since I don't have an official race date. Well, actually, I'm just not that motivated to follow it to a T right now. Anyway, yesterday was speed (Progressive superset 1600, 800, 400 X3) so tonight was just easy. I decided to run a little fartLICK:) So, I'm cruising along under the street lights with the snow lightly falling thinking about rainbows and unicorns and I literally got hit by a car. Yes, 2 dog bites, numerous falls, one time riding my bike into the street light and now hit by a car..... I have to run on the road or the sidewalk. There are NO running paths here. When I run in town I have to run across a crosstreet every block. They have stop signs. Anyway, I was running (in reflective clothing) and I could see a car pulling up to the stop but it seemed to be an easy cross for me without slowing down. The car apparently did not see me (or even glance to the right), sped up instead of slowing down for the STOP sign and turned right into me crossing-No stop whatsoever. I literally bounced off the hood of the car and saw 2 nice high school aged boys with cigarettes hangin' out of their mouths. Very brief eye contact was made and the little punks sped off. Now, I was not hurt, just scared and I tell you, I ran about the fastest 400 EVER with both my middle fingers raised chasing this car. Why, I don't know. Obviously cars go faster than people and what would I do if I caught it anyway....Seriously, I was just livid. I even understand if it was an accident, carelessness, whatever but DON'T pretend it didn't happen and speed off!!! Sorry buddy but I got your plate and it became my mantra all the way to the police station.....

So, I am sitting here drinking a glass of wine on a weeknight which is against my current weeknight drinking ban. My mouth hurts mostly from the novocaine shots, my jaw hurts from holding my mouth open, my legs hurt because I love to avoid leg weights and then pretend I'm superwoman for one day, my head hurts because I'm getting a cold.

One more day of work, followed by a glorious massage and then I'm off to Duluth on Friday with Reese for the weekend. Hills hills hills! I am WAY slacking on my hills so it will be fun to run there!

I know I said I would write a more interesting post soon. Soon is relative....this is not a food blog but at some point I will profile what I eat since I've gotten a couple of emails about that and one topic I'm interested in is ideal race weight.

Yes, in case you forgot or haven't followed me that long, my daughter takes after me.......only she smiles when she lets the middle finger fly! (Just to clarify-this was entirely unintentional but I laugh at the magnet on my fridge every day)

There you have it. Word.

F*ck! Hit by a car. That warrants an expletive in my book. I am SO impressed you got that plate number :) and really glad you were not seriously injured. Remember to take it a bit easy on yourself…sometimes the next day or two you feel really crummy after getting hit BY A CAR. (((Hugs)))

Hope your dental situation gets better quickly! And LOVE that pic of your daughter! LOL

Word that! What?! This a crazy story Jenn! Is it bad that I was laughing at the way you wrote it? You had me laughing at the part where you said you made brief eye contact with the teenagers behind the wheel with cigarettes hanging out of their mouth. Ok, so not funny but the way you wrote it...But I'm pissed too! And scared for you! Ugggh, this makes me so mad that there are drivers out there like this...somebody's kid. Gosh, I hope my kids are responsible ones.

I am so glad and impressed with you that you got their plate number...and it was your mantra...see you made me laugh again. I love it! Damn right, I would have been running after them with my middle fingers up. I would have been so scared and angry.

I'm so glad you're okay. Please keep me posted...I'm interested to hear if they find these little shits. And is Joe still out of town? He's got to be worried sick about you.

oh, and I thought of you today when I was doing my repeat 400's at the gym...I was watching some talk shoe with Justin Bieber (sp?) and Wayne Gretzky came on with his daughter and they were talking about Hockey...that's about all I followed but it made me think of your little hockey phenomes up there in MN!

Take care of yourself Jenn! Thinking of you and thanking God that you are okay!

I noticed you put different pictures up on your side bar...I like! Man, your legs! to die for! Hot sexy bitch! :)

Oh, and sorry for thinking that your story had humor in it at all...must be my tired brain tonight and the way you wrote with just detail...kind of like I was watching an action comedy movie and when stuff like that happens in the movies, it isn't real..you know, stunt doubles...not real live beautiful Jenns. :(

wow...PUNK is the word..so sorry you got hit like that, glad you are ok. Good for you for taking the number...I am like Amanda, I hope I am doing a good enough job NOW with my boys that they NEVER act like idiots like those morrons.
Root canal is in my future..well was supposed to be in my past by now, since November I have canceled 4 appointments...I gave birth twice, had 4 surgeries but I cannot deal with a root canal? crazy I know. I like your new pics on the side.

Oh, glad you are OK. I have been running the streets this winter (path not plowed) and it has been a nightmare. I had a similar encounter with a car at an intersection, though fortunately there was no contact with the car; I yelled at the guy with both my fingers up and told him something about how he should exercise his fat a$$ (so mad!).
You had the day from hell. I sympathize with the dentist adventure - I am there more than I would like. I hate novocaine so much that I have all the simple filling and procedures without it.
Take care of you and do something fun to recharge your batteries! Looking forward to the post on food and racing weight:)

I sympathise....

lets see....

root canal x 3 - worst was 33 mm deep for the filing in an incisor...yes...33mm

close calls X 4 with cars this winter...one was a whisker from being a dandy.

I would have drank the whole bottle of wine after that and
chased it with a few beers.

But hey, today's a new day with new adventures...right???

wow! now we have proof that you are SUPERWOMAN! Hit by a car, jump up and chase it down to rid the community of idiots. Go Girl!

Urgh! I need 2 crowns that I have been putting off, uhhhh, for about 2-3 years now.

Looking forward to your food report. I love to get new and different ideas about healthy eating, which you obviously do well. Bring It!
(race weight - so hard for me)

I bet you left a dandy of a dent in that car as it bounced off of your superwoman exterior!

Glad you are okay.

You're going to need more than one glass of wine. Seriously??? Hit by a car? So glad you are okay. Those punk a$$es. Look I'm cool like Kei$ha.

Hilarious on your daughter and the bird.

WHAT?! That is crazy! I'm so glad you are ok!

The picture of your daughter giving the bird is so funny - and I love that you laugh at it and have it on your fridge. Love it!

Oh MY CRAZINESS!!!!

A root canal and hit by a car in the same day? That has to be some sort of record!!! That is sweet that you got the plate. Someone is going to lose their license over that one. A hit and run!! I hope that you are OK the day after (not whiplash or anything- adrenaline can mask stuff)

Your daughter's photo was pretty funny :) Apple doesn't fall far from the tree...;)

About that racing weight..you'll have to let me know what you learn. I am thinking mine might be a little high after this week of bon-bons and bike riding.

I bet that was a freaking FAST 400!

Stay safe today!!

It is so goofy that bike is a recumbant. It's like the difference between a cruiser and a crotch rocket!

I just can't tell ya how glad I am that you are not hurt. I bet your hubby can't wait to get back to you and hold you.
