5K's suck!

Very quick post from my phone. Ran basically an impromptu 5K race this morning reiterating to me how much I HATE this distance. In the process of nearly killing myself, I did contribute my race entry to a young girl with Leukemia. 3.14 miles/20:29. 1st in AG (there were 3 total in my AG-ha!), 2nd OA female. I'm pretty sure this satified my 5K PR requirement for the year....Not sure how I would drop 29 seconds for a sub 20 at this point. Off to a hockey game:)

Whoo-hooo! Good job on the 5k, I can't believe yoy still ran that fast in the cold! Did you wear your mask?
1st in AG, way to go!
I loved your son's book in the last post, it's always so funny to hear kids write about their parents...sometimes you never know what they'll say.
Finally, I just got my hair colored a darker brown with some reds and ugh, it's SO dark. I still have my pony and can braid it so all is good. Post some pictures!
Have a great weekend,
meg

Great time, despite the torture...
I agree about 5k being a horrid distance, you go AS HARD AS YOU CAN and then just when your legs get the idea that you are indeed racing- you're DONE. GAHHHH.

Lol. You crack me up .. you hate the 5k yet you place 1st in your age group and 3rd overall! That's AMAZING!! Great job! I'm running a small 5k tomorrow as a fundraiser for a mother of 2 with breast cancer. I can only wish for a time like yours!!

5Ks are pain all the way. And boo for the long course! But, it is a PR, right? And for sure you could get the sub 20 on an accurately measured course! You ran a pretty awesome clip you marathon woman you:)

Wooo hooo! A PR! Why oh why is that 20 min barrier so hard to break? I hear ya on the 5k's sucking! I told one of my friends that I am going to run a 5k instead of a 15k for the Shamrock run and she was like "oh, those are easy" and I said oh, no they are not! Not if you race them...sure if you are just running them but racing them is an entirely different issue. I'd take a marathon over a 5k race any day. Congrats Jenn.

agree, 5ks are hard, but it's great speed work or tempo running. You are amazing! Yes, you could totally go sub 20 if you were training for the 5k. That's always my problem. I always seem to be training for the marathon, and jump in the 5ks. I know we could run faster 5ks if that was our focus. I would love to train to go sub 23, but can't let the marathons go long enough to do it.

I actually love the variety the 5k races offer. It hurts, but you are finished so fast.

I think it's kind of funny that you win your age group and come second over all for women, yet you hate the 5K! Great job getting that PR! Hope the hockey games are going well this weekend!

OMGoodness! That's a GREAT time.

You just HAD to do one if you had the chance :) You'll be sub 20 in a few weeks, with all the speedwork you've been doing =D

Now i want to do one!! Race envy!!

5ks are pretty special... I am sometimes more achy after a 5k than a marathon. But congrats on your placing!

I wish I could hate 5k's and be that fast too.
