Happy New Year!

Ah-New Year's Eve morning. -27 degree windchill and winter storm watch with maybe 10 inches of snow tonight. I'm thinking it's not a good night for wine and heels (at least in public) so I'm staying in! ALL of my kids are heading to sleepovers (hooray-happy dance!!) so we're having 2 good friends over and I'm cooking up fancy!!! I LOVE to cook (not hotdish), more like things that call for heavy whipping cream and ocean creatures! I also love the challenge of finding the ingredients I'm looking for at the local grocery store. The poor checkout boy looks at me like "WTH is Saffron" or tries to show me the new breaded popcorn shrimp they just got in for the holidays! Oh-the joys! Don't get me wrong, I am perfectly content in my current situation! Awesome schools, safety, fantastic sports, but mind you me in exactly 12 years I will NOT reside here. J and C, don't worry, I won't leave you behind. We're all going to live in a big house with a massive home gym and personal trainers (I know this is not your idea of fun but I will convert you) and we will build our husbands a "mancave" to keep their wild animal mounts and sports memorabilia!! We will eat at awesome restaurants EVERY night and spend our days shopping-I think they may even start a reality series on MTV featuring us.....All my sisters also get to live in the same house and maybe I'll let my parents move into the bonus room above the garage. This is starting to sound sick and twisted-I'll stop now! I'm bipolar as I ALSO want to live entirely surrounded by the beauty of nature in a cabin in the mountains with only Joe and my kids for company (and satellite TV). Truthfully, in 12 years I could very well be a Grandma following my little grandkids around to hockey tournaments EVERYWHERE! Believe it or not, this sounds JUST as appealing!!!

Ramble much.....

In other news....My kids spent 10 consecutive hours at the rink skating yesterday. RINK RATS!!! I was watching my son skating last night. Every kid had left the ice but him and he was still skating by himself and working on his "tricks". He cried when I made him leave. He's up there right now and I'm going to head in with the video camera in a bit here. This little video I have is from 2 years ago exactly. He was 5 years and 5 months. You should see him now! (I'm using this blog as an opportunity to totally brag up my kid since it is very tacky and unflattering to do so to actual people-ha) Just so you all know, the words "bud" and "dude" were totally "in" back in 2008......

I am working on a goal list for 2011 since I am the ONLY blogger who has not yet done so. I will post it tomorrow!

I just weeded through my piles of running clothes and sorted them into the 3 sizes that I like to fluctuate between-ha! We're not going to talk about which pile fits me right now....Kidding a little here...I'm not really obsessed about this-I'm in good shape-I would just prefer to take at least one pound off each of my legs and deposit it into my chest which is ENTIRELY gone from this running....

Does tabasco burn holes in your stomach lining....

I will post a running update a little later. I'm managing here although speed work is definitely not my forte. Can we say NO FAST TWITCH muscles!!! No real chunks yet but a few gags.....

What are your big New Year's Plans?

I must get my day in order here!! Can't wait to see what 2011 holds for so many of you. When 2010 began I followed about 5 blogs, now I have friends all over the nation!! Be Safe!

OMG, I can't believe Max was skating like that at age 5. Amazing! And did you just run a super fast training 5K? I won't take it easy on you any more, there is no way you can't run a sub 20 5K in 2011. And I say, you've got plenty of fast twitch muscles. Have an awesome 2011! No injuries, only PRs, and yay for small boobs!

I don't think any of my sizes fit me now! Not good!
Happy New Year! Enjoy those hours at the rink!

I think you'd love being the grandma and following your little grand kiddies around to their ice festivities!! Not that you even want to THINK about being a grandma but I have to say it's the BIGGEST blessing in the World..any way, back to the present!
Have a rockin' New Year's Eve with your friends, it sounds like you'll have another chilly evening but it DOES sound like lots of fun!
I loved seeing your son skate around, it's so wonderful when kids find their passion(and at such a young age!).
Big hugs and Happy New Year!

Chesty running is no fun... take it from someone who knows. And I still haven't done any goal-list-making either... so you are in good company ;-) And WOW ... do all kids in MN skate like that by the age of 5? My 5-yr old can skate, but not like THAT!!! Whew!

Have fun with your creamy fishies! lol

Happy New Year!

You're so funny. We say dude all the time still. :) My husband and I actually call each other dude a lot. ha ha. Um, your son looks way too amazing to be 5 in this video. Good grief!!!!!!! YOu've got some talent there. So great that you enjoy watching them and supporting them...you're a rock star mom!

So cool that you have shelsilverstein memorized....I love that poem. Twistable Turnable Man! ;)

I used to be afraid of failure big time. But now I'm getting better at realizing that some dreams come true and some change and that is okay. :)

you're not the only one to have no published goals for 2011, cause i have not even come to grips with the fact that 2010 is rapidly coming to an end!!!

at the beginning of 2010 i didn't read any blogs :) what a year of transformation, right?

dinner sounds yummy! and i love wearing heel around the house for no reason myself... :)

Yes, I agree that you can run a sub-20 minute 5K in 2011 too!

I live in southern MN and I cannot get myself outside to run too often, so i have no idea how you do it up north! Do you run mostly outdoors? Or in the winter do you head for the treadmill???

Good luck coming up with 2011 goals!

You look FANTASTIC! You are an athlete, and you are strong! Here's to a healthy 2011!!!

Awesome video of your son skating!! I like to brag about my kids on my blog too, because I wouldn't do that to people I know :)

All of our snow melted!! In fact we had thunder storms yesterday, wierd! Anyways, your night in sounds like fun, hope you had a good time!

Happy New year!

Max is a PRODIGY! OM goodness! If Nathan saw that he would really want to get some skates. Wait...he already does...but we don't have a rink. Scratch that.

There are some fast-twich fibers in there. I am sure. Thanks for your comment on the tempo. I really tried to bury that post, but you found it. I even back posted the time. Ha. Hard-head? Possibly. You might have me nailed down. Jon agrees with you!

Hope you had a great new year's eve!!! I can't wait to see what's in store for 2011. :)
