So- I guess I should update this blog since it's been awhile. A lot has happened since my last post. Perhaps a lot will happen before my next post.
For fun and old times sake-Random News!
I have a femoral neck stress fracture and will not be running for a LONG time. I can't quite describe how frustrating this has been for me. Besides the fact that I love running in general, it is also a MAJOR stress reliever for me and an outlet that I've relied on to get through the busyness of my life. Obviously I am not the only person in the world with an injury....Also-anyone with any advice on recovery-I'll take it!!!
Not only am I not running, I am not biking, swimming, or walking. I am hobbling on crutches for 6-8 more weeks and then will gradually progress to walking, light biking, swimming and potentially running slowly later in the fall.
In happier news, my husband just began his marathon training plan for the Twin Cities Marathon in October. This will be his first marathon and he needs a 3:15 to qualify for Boston. I am so excited to at least be able to follow his training and be his "water girl" His first instinct was to drop the marathon as he felt it would be tough for me to watch him train. Ridiculous! Conversely, I would go crazy if he wasn't training!!
My little Reese still enjoys putting on her shoes and will run another 5K on July 3rd. She has PR'ed in all 5 of her 5K's and going for another in number 6. I'm so proud of her.
I spectated my first half marathon on Father's Day. I got to watch my Dad, my husband Joe and my sister all run great races at the Manitoba half marathon. Hard not to run but fun to cheer!!!
My kids are back in hockey full force! I do love watching them as busy as it is!
So-there you have it-a little random news to explain my absence from blogging about running when I can't run! I do however still enjoy reading about running!! Hopefully this blog will return to one about marathon training in the near future if all goes well!!

Oh no! I've been wondering where you were and I'm so sorry to hear about the sfx! Wishing you speedy healing!
Oh Sweetie! I've been thinking about you too. I KNOW you're going to be the BEST cheerleader for your hubby and your kids this summer and into the fall. This time will fly by, I know it. BIG HUGS and prayers for a quick, quick recovery.
Take care of yourself and get better! I have no advice, but I hope you have a speedy recovery
Hi Jenn,
I am so sorry about your stress fracture:( I know how much it is driving your crazy but you need to take the time needed to heal and recover.
Woo hoo for your 5K speedster daughter and cheers to hockey starting up again:) Watching the kids will keep you busy.
I am running in the Twin Cities Marathon....you can cheer me on too:) Lord knows I will need it!
Take care of yourself Jenn!
AHH! I was thinking about you today actually, wondering what was up since u hadn't posted in a while. wow. bummer. i've never heard of anyone having that injury before, do you know how it happened? ugh, i feel terrible for you but hopefully all this rest will help you to come back even stronger once you are ready. :-( good luck to your husband and your daughter on their race.
I knew something was up as I have been thinking about you. I am glad you decided to post. I know it is tough to "face" the injury on the blog. But we can help. I had 2 stress fractures when I first started racing, both in 2008. I did not know about the first one, I just stopped running for 6 weeks and then used the elypitical. I found out about it when I saw an ortho after my second stress fracture was healed. I was lucky that I healed well and quickly. But I do remember how tough it was to go without running. Good things came out of it for me, as eventually I learned to swim, and now I am doing triathlons. Also, I will tell you that you are going to be back faster, stronger and hungrier. And you will learn a lot about yourself in the process. Keep posting, you need the support!
Sorry to hear about this. Take care of yourself! You will have to run vicariously through your family.
Wow, that is a crazy injury. I hope you heal quickly! Hopefully the busy summer will help the time pass!
Oh Jenn, when I read that message the other day on my blog, I about fainted. Seriously!!! You, the queen of no injuries was down and out for months! My heart totally feels for you. I've been meaning to email you since I read that ... I am sorry I'm a terrible friend. I am going to do that this weekend, promise! But please know you've been in my thoughts like every hour since knowing and I pray for a very speedy recovery for you! You are amazing and I know that you will heal quickly, cuz that's what you do...things QUICK!! :) Love and hugs to you, girl!! Rest that hip and get stronger. xo

I'm sorry to hear about your injury! I hope you have a quick recovery and can return to running with no more issues!
I feel your pain girl!! I have been out 8+ months with shoulder and knee surgery and then a blood clot.....It is almost harder mentally than physically so I know what you are going through...I just posted about a 1 minute run and was excited....lol....because I had both shoulder and knee injuries at the same time, I couldn't really exercise at all either...hang in there, it will get better...keep us posted and post about your other loves (kids, hubby, or other interests) because we would still love to hear from you!!!!!
Oh my goodness! I am so sorry to hear about the fracture!! I hope it heals quickly!
Take care and hope you are back on your feet soon!
So sorry to hear about your injury! I wish I had some advice but I basically went insane when I was injured and I am unsure how I actually dealt!!!
hope you have a speedy recovery!
I have been totally wondering what you were up to! I am sooooo sorry about the stress fracture! Ugh! My heart goes out to you!
Your little Reese is amazing! I want to have kids just to have little running partners :) And very cool the hubs is on the marathon band wagon - I can't wait to hear how he is doing! At least keep us updated on that :) Good luck lady!
I am so very sorry for your injury. I am seven months in to my recovery from a very serious injury also. My doctors expect full or nearly full recovery by twelve months but occasionally say it could be two years. (Thanks.) If you need to moan and complain feel free to email me. Email is in my profile.
so, so, so sorry about the injury. Having had the mild hip injury (my first injury) that slowed me down for a while, I can only imagine what you are going through. At least the time will continue to fly by with all the kiddos activities. Take care and keep us up to date.
yikes! i am sorry you are dealing with this injury :( i hope you heal up quick and can get back out there soon.
I hope you are staying sane. I know Roseau is a smaller place so I thought I'd ask..do you know Dawn Torrison?
I thought I hadn't seen a post come up from you on my reader in a long time... I'm sorry to hear about your injury. I've been out of running due to a foot injury since March, but I've started walk/jog intervals a few weeks ago. It's been tough. I'm sorry you're unable to do anything, really. You'll be back at it soon, but listen to your doc and take it easy. Focus on the long term!!
I love that you're being so supportive in your husbands endeavor. That's fantastic and so strong of you!
Take it easy!
Oh gosh! Sorry, I'm just now reading this post..... I haven't been running and didn't want to depress myself by reading running blogs. I know how frustrating this is..... Big hubs and prayers your way.
I'm so sorry to read about your injury! Sending you lots of speedy recovery wishes!
We have been missing you. We need an update when you feel like it.
