Still Cold

Well! It's still cold, -40 with the windchill. I'm tired of this quite frankly and I should probably be making a gratitude list to remind me of all the things I'm thankful for but instead I'm going to wallow in my own self pity for the rest of the day!

So, I got to head out of town for a quick overnight date with my hubby last night! These are becoming few and far between and my kids are taking over my life!!!! Not complaining because I LOVE it but it was so awesome to pretend I was childless for a night! (I also pretended I was 21 and I hope there are no pictures on the web to prove this). Joe also let his hair down a bit (kind of ironic since he shaves his head) which I haven't seen lately because he is always working or traveling in a different direction than me! We had an amazing dinner and evening and while you crazy people were running Disney this morning, I was laying under 3 down comforters sleeping it off! (Truthfully, we weren't very wild and didn't even make it up until midnight!)

Ryan had a game this afternoon and they won again. No, I do not take pictures of my kids during their games but I do take pictures of this (hard to see but at least 3 inches of crack showing) Seriously, I am a 12 year old kid trapped in an old lady's body!

After my hill workout on Wednesday (which totally sucked-d*mn leg weights), I had planned to head outside for a recovery 5 or so on Thursday. For all of you who give me the nice compliments for being hardcore in this cold weather you can have them back. I made it exactly 1.2 miles outside before I quit. The temperature said -5 below but apparently the SW wind made for a windchill of over -30 below and it was dangerously cold! I came inside and hit the treadmill again for exactly 8.8 miles slowly since I am very anal and wanted to have a nice neat even number for my daily mileage!

Yesterday before I headed out of town I hit the fitness center again and was planning for 8 miles but did 10 @ 7:57. I also threw in another weight workout and I'm perfectly content to sit on my butt and do nothing at all today. ( I should add that I ate like it was my last meal last night and definitely consumed more calories than I burnt off) Tomorrow, I will do my long run. Temps are supposed to be doable outside but we might get another snow pounding!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend all!

-40 degrees? OMG...did I read that right? We finally warmed up a bit here in CO. It's really bad when you open your deep freeze in the garage and the deep freeze is warmer.

Sounds like a nice trip that you and your hubby had. Seriously, we all need those every now and then, even though we all love our kids. It's just sooo nice to get away!

I love your pics from your last post!

Just stepping outside in that weather for ANYTHING, much less running still makes you hardcore in my book.

Yippee for date night and getting a little wild. :)

I noticed the crack before you even clarifed what it was :). Funny...you'd think it would have been, um, cold??!! Cool your daughter is having such a great winning streak! CO is warming up, enough that I got in 15 today but it was slow going and I'm wondering if knitting isn't a better option right now. Do they have a Boston for knitters? Hum, guess not. You're doing awesome, girl...truly! And so glad you got a night out with your hubby, that had to be so nice and relaxing! I love following your blog and already can't wait to meet ya live in person in beantown!! :)

Wow, after the cold spell we have had here in Houston, I have a whole new admiration for those of you that really live in the COLD regions of the country. I am already tired of the cold. I have had to change from running in the am to the pm because it is usually about 10 degrees warmer. I hope you experience a little warmth soon!!
