We'll take your prayers....

So-although this is a running blog, I spill enough of my personal life on here to write posts completely unrelated to running. As I mentioned last week, my baby sister Sarah, 24, was expecting #2 this week. My sisters and I are VERY close and this was practically as exciting as having my own child!!!! Last night she went into labor and the excitement began!!! We anxiously awaited updates from the hospital and were ready to head there on a moments notice to hold the new little addition to our family! Unfortunately, things didn't go quite as planned. Apparently, the baby's heartbeat was dropping significantly with each contraction, enough to warrant an emergency C-section under GA. Little Theodore James was born this morning at 4 pounds 4 ounces with the cord wrapped around his neck 5 times. He is not doing very well and was sent to the NICU at a larger hospital 2 hours away. My sister is recovering and was NOT able to go with him. She did NOT get to hold him.... It's times like this than put everything in perspective. The things I fret over in life are quite trivial....

Top pic-Me and Sarah. I'm older by 11 years. She's a photographer and Beyond Ordinary is her business. The last pic taken at nine months prego! Hot to trot!!

So, although we don't "know" each other, prayers for a distraught mommy would be greatly appreciated. Hug your babies and remember what matters most in life people....

My first child was born in a very similar manner. I labored for 27 hours and they rushed me to the ER for c-section when they knew that the cord had been wrapped around her neck. She was on a respirator for four days and I didn't get to hold her for the first day. I recovered as fast as I could with determination to walk to her. My prayers are with your family...these things can turn out just fine...I know it!

Girl, I am praying for your sister and little Theodore. I am so sorry about this situation but know that we are all here for you and thinking about your family! I can't believe she didn't even get to hold her yet. You two girls are the most beautiful people I have ever seen. I love you and will be thinking about your sister all day!

I'm so sorry your sister and your families are going through this. They will all be in my prayers.

My first was born early and weighed 4p12ounces. She is now a very tall and healthy girl. Hoping for great news for your sister and nephew.

All good thoughts and prayers going Sarah's and sweet baby's and your family's way. Thing 1 was a cord-around-the-neck baby. Hoping for the best.

So sorry Jenn. I can't even imagine, not being able to hold your baby. It does put everything else in perspective. I was born with the cord wrapped around my neck 5 times. One extra day and it would have been too late, but everything worked out and I was a healthy kid. I hope you have better news by now. Thinking about you all!
