One more year in the books and back to the random....

I'm 36 years old today....Another year down. Looking in the mirror, it is quite obvious I'm in my 30's... Fortunately, I LOVE my 30's!!!! One day I will even be 40 and can carry a puppy purse and wear a purple sequined bikini with pride like I read in a post awhile back that made me laugh. LOTS to look forward to in the coming years!!

What am I doing for my birthday you ask?...or you don't but I tell anyway... Why I started by getting my ass WHOOPED this morning at the gym. By WHOOPED I mean WHOOPED. I will not be driving my car with my hands in the 10 and 2 position by Wednesday. This is a fact. I will likely be popping ibuprofen like skittles, using only handicapped bathrooms, and struggling to get a fork to my mouth....not all bad. (I've enjoyed my marathon recovery in terms of calories even though I ran it slower than my average long run pace-ha!) I've embarked on a 30 day journey here that will hopefully get me on the right path to tackle the next 6 months of my life as I prepare to track down and shatter my marathon PR next April.

And NOW, to the totally random.

*I need a Halloween costume. A couple's costume. IDEAS??? We've gone as Sarah Palin (I nailed this) and Joe the Plumber and Richard Simmons (Joe nailed this) and his "workout project" the last two years. We need something GOOD!

*I dug out my "keepsake" box from under the stairs that is filled with EVERYTHING my mom saved from my childhood. She finally entrusted me with this when I was 30-ha!! My girls were wanting to go through it and I tell you, this was SO fun. My mom was SO organized. She had 6 kids but even saved all of my TEETH-yes my teeth and my hair from haircuts and NEATLY filed schoolwork from every year and pictures....Reese was dying for me to go through my 5th grade folder as she's in 5th grade this year. I did and I found this journal entry. I tried to scan it in but it's hard to read so I will just type it.

"What I Look for in a Friend"
I expect my friends to be able to be trusted and be honest. I want them to expect the same out of me also. I want them to like me for who I am and to dress nice. My friends usually follow these rules.

Bahahaha!! I want them to dress nice-seriously where did this come from! We were laughing SO hard.

THEN Ryan comes across this little bag and is all "What's this?" and then throws it and says "Ewww, Ewww" Label says "Gall stones". I was 25 when I had my gallbladder out!!! Who's mom saves their gallstones? Probably the same mom who has my umbilical cord dried up but in tact in my baby book. I seriously had a seizure here from laughing.

*Had a BLAST stalking Kona and Chicago this weekend!!! Talk about inspiring. These women pulling 2:52 marathons AFTER like 6 hours of swimming and biking!! HARDCORE! Congrats to ALL who poured it out there this weekend in ANY race!

*I ran a non-PR 10K on Saturday morning. Not trying for a PR, my body did not have a PR in it, just trying to fix my mind.....It helped a little. I am now officially burying my Garmin for 30 days.

*My husband turns 40 tomorrow and my daughter 11. Why did I choose today to stop eating cake....

*I'm overwhelmingly thankful for some of the encouragement I've received both prior to my race last weekend and after the fact. OVERWHELMINGLY.

*I am entering the crazy stage of the life for me. My kids are back on ice with hockey. I will be constantly traveling and have over 160 games between the 3 of them this year while attempting to work full time and train for Boston. I'm not asking for pats on the back as I know MANY who make schedules tougher than mine work. It is MORE than likely I will put my blog on the backburner here for awhile. I find it easy enough to read blogs, harder to comment and even harder yet to post when my life gets busy.....it's not personal, it's not that I don't appreciate or don't desire....

Quickly before I close here, some GOOD friends and great races this coming weekend!!!! I am literally SICK excited about my "virtual" training partner and her race! Like, I honestly have butterflies when I think about her crossing that finish line and having that unmatchable feeling of pride and satisfaction that she SO deserves!!!! Greatly appreciate her friendship and encouragement and can't WAIT for a chance to smack out a training weekend in Boston with her this winter:)

Happy Monday all!

I just left you a voicemail. Happy Birthday!!! Feeling like a crappy friend that I didn't look at my calendar before I called you last night to talk all about me me me. And here it was your birthday eve. Hope you have the best birthday ever! Eat cake for crying out loud!

Your 10k time that wasn't intended to be a PR...still amazing! After a marathon and on a sore ass! You have so much in you girl! And yes, you will rip up that marathon PR!

Oh my! This is too funny! Your MOM! What??! Is this for real? Now I feel even more guilty for my lack of "saving things". Teeth? Oh wow. My mom didn't save much at all and I only have a few pictures. Too cool! I would love to look through that box someday.

Halloween costumes...I'll be thinking on t his. Do you have a party to dress up for?

Gosh, I sure am glad you don't judge your friends on those standards anymore...the dressing part...I'd be shunned from your group. :)

Happy Birthday to Joe and Reese (?)...pretty sure it is Reese.
Love you girl! I'm doing birthday dances for you all day. I might even text you another picture if you're lucky! ha ha

O, right... the costume question...

I have friends who wore flesh-colored bodysuits and went as Adam and Eve... with fabric fig leaves covering artistically crafted anatomical parts... HE was Eve and SHE was Adam.

Other friends went as a priest and a pregnant nun.

A dominatrix and her submissive?

My husband and I have never had coordinating outfits.

Happy Birthday and I think you should stop eating cake the day after tomorrow. WHy do today what you can do tomorrow, right?

FOr Holloween, how about Sonny and Cher? Chris and I pulled this one nicely. I think I posted some pics on Petru's blog, if you want to take a look. We need something for this year, too! Petru never dresses so we need to make up for him.

We need details about your strength plan. How did it go? I think this is such a great idea, and will try to make strength a priority after next weekend, too. We shall see if I keep up with this. My upper body is nonexistent right now, and so weird looking in comparison to my legs.

Yes, I really hope that virtual friend will have a good race. Her legs have been feeling awesome lately! And she can't wait for Boston training either, to see YOU cash in all the training you've banked up over this past year! It will be AMAZING!

Well a happy happy birthday to you young lady! Hope that the remainder of the day treats you well! Wow 3 birthdays in 1 week? Thats some pretty serious celebrating, my mouth is watering just thinking about all of the cake-like goodness in your home!

My hubby's mom saved his teeth and recently gave them to him, I hope that one day his umbilical cord doesn't make it's way into our home. That is pretty special though that you have all of those keepsakes tucked away so neatly.

Side note haven't replied to your blog comments yet, but I just want to say a special thank you to you. Wow you are seriously an awesome woman that brought my heart to a halt for a moments time. Honestly felt your love through type written words. So you celebrate your birthday like an animal today because you are truly a special woman that deserves the best day ever.

Happy birthday pretty lady! you really ARE a hilarious woman! I would Love to just sit around the camp fire with you and egg you on to see what I could get out of you...maybe feed you a few beers to really get things going.....Oh wait, I will do that in Boston in 6mos! HA!! I told Amanda I would follow you 2 back to the hotel with a video camera and tape you drunk ladies! LOL. well maybe not, but I'm pretty sure it will be some good times. ANY way...umbilical cord? for real. that is disgusting. my dad cleaned out his ears for the first time when I was 13. He said a few hours later at the bar a "seed" fell out of his ear (probably hard ear wax) and he kept it in a shot glass in his medecine cabinet for months. You can imagine what us 3 teenage girls said/did to him every weekend when we visited! it was so gross, yet so funny. we told him to plant it and see if it would grow potatoes. I think he half believed us. LMAO. oh man. good times. anyway...I SUCK at Hallowe'en costumes. I really do. what about.....Shrek and Phiona? or Willy Nelson and Dolly Parton! LOL....OR...see I'm really not good at this....include your 3 kids and go as the Jackson 5! I actually did that with 4 girlfriends one year. best costumes EVER! okay...I have to go to work! enough ramblings. eat some cake. eat 2 peices, it's your birthday for goodness sake ! xxx

Oh and one more thing...I agree with Britt, you have a way through your written comments and words to really make us all feel loved, so thank you!

I have my belly button is a little container in my "special box" too! lol..No teeth though, for some reason.
I LOVE the 5th grade friendship criteria... made me laugh.

Good to hear that the workout really worked you over! That means it's going to do its magic!! :) You will benefit so much from this. I can already imagine one glute is snapping back at this very moment. Ha!

The costumes. this is hard. Maybe you can be peanut butter and jelly or something like that? I could never get my husband in a costume! The thought makes me laugh. I can't get him to wear a tie, either :)

Happy Birthday, Jenn. You are one-of-a-kind.

Hilarious re: gall stones and journal entry. HILARIOUS! I know you're busy, but damnit, don't go too far away!

I want to know about this 30-day magical plan. I want in on it. Will it make me as fast as you? :) Not likely, I know, but perhaps it will get me closer.

Happy birthday to you, Jenn, as well as to your hubs and to Reese!
