Another unproofed yap!

So, a few of you know I haven't been running for a lifetime a few days....I might expand on this later but long story short: I will live, my foot is feeling somewhat better, Joe has put the liquor back in the liquor cabinet, and I'm swearing less..... I won't attempt to test it running before Sunday and I was also planning to avoid the bike (just in case) but that is just not panning out for me. I am like a nervous ball of energy and the freezing temps and 30 mph winds were begging me to haul my road bike out of the garage and attempt to kill myself after work today.....I nearly succeeded but my foot was OK and I feel MUCH better right now at least mentally! Anyway,I thought I would sit down and write a quick post before I head out for the weekend tomorrow AGAIN. Then it hit me... What in the world will I write about if I'm not running?....I mean ALL of my posts are entirely running related and full of valuable information for all my readers......right?? Yeah, most of you know by now, this blog is by no means a teaching tool-simply an unorganized vent mostly for my own benefit:)

I could talk about my freak occurence at work today......Anybody, looking for a Dentist? Well, Janice says to look elsewhere.....

We are having issues in the basement of our office with water on the ground so the employee bathroom is off limits and employees have to zip out to the lobby if we need to "relieve" ourselves! Now, I might have mentioned (I don't remember) that I am doing this pushup challenge with my gym buddies on Tuesday of next week. I've ALSO been just crazy busy the last few weeks so I've been trying to squeeze in unorthodox workout sessions in whatever environment works. ANYWAY, my latest "thing" is knocking out pushups on the bathroom floor every time I go in there at work. (I WEAR GLOVES but there is really no reasonable way to justify myself here other than to say I have a weak bladder and I end up doing A LOT of pushups in a day-ha!) Soooo..... this afternoon, I'm in the lobby bathroom in pushup position when the door just swings WIDE open and our next patient, the LOVELY Janice, gets full view of me d*mn near laying on the bathroom floor. (I didn't lock it for whatever reason.... perhaps because I wasn't actually going to the bathroom that time or perhaps because I assumed the ridiculously noisy fan would have notified someone that it was in use!!) Now, I think when you open the door on someone, your immediate response is to shut it so she quickly did that. Thoughts immediately began cycling through my head like like "how do I explain being on the bathroom floor and how can I cover this tactfully?" I'm pretty sure thoughts were also going through her head like "WTH is she doing on the bathroom floor and what kind of office is this?" WHAT TO DO???.....Hmmm....I regrouped, opened the door, smiled and sweetly said, "Well Hello Janice, beatiful day out there isn't it! Now that I've removed myself from the floor, let me get you to to a room, stick my filthy fingers in your mouth and take some xrays......" Poor Janice..... (Truthfully, Janice is in her golden years, nearly oblivious to her surroundings and I think she thought she was at the Dairy Queen, not the Dentist anyway)

Other random news:

We leave for Blaine tomorrow for the MN Elite Hockey tournament. Both of my girls were invited to play in this tournament for their respective levels and will play for the North team. It will be a VERY busy weekend with 8 games and skills competitions. I'm thankful to be so busy since I won't be running and I will have less time to obsess over my potential loss of fitness.

My son has agreed to cut his hair. He has decided he would like a mullet. "You know, short on the sides, long in the back Mom" Thankyou very much to the Bantam boys hockey team who is on a mission to bring this hideous style back.

We are heading on a getaway with 2 other couples (no kids) to the Duluth North Shore area NEXT weekend. I am SO excited to run hills hang out with my husband and good friends, enjoy nice dinners, great conversation, TOTAL relaxation!!! We have some great couple friends that we haven't spent much time with due to our hectic schedules.

April is my slowest month of the year! I have 3 weeks off of work, Joe is not traveling. My kids are done with hockey until the beginning of May and we get to spend evenings together like a NORMAL family! I will move most of my running back to the morning which will be a bit of a change since I've been going mainly in the evenings these days.

I know I've been a bit absent with the comments lately. I've been doing most of my blog reading on my phone and just haven't had a lot of down time. I'm looking forward to a much more relaxing month ahead. Good luck to all those racing this weekend!!! Hopefully I will be running by my next post!!

Before a quick "cheer me up" cocktail! Thank you so much J:)

Oh my gosh! You are so freaking funny Jenn. You have me laughing out loud about your push-up bathroom scene with good ol' Janice. I can tell she must be in her golden years with a name like Janice. Ha! I love love love this story. You rock and I love you even more now!

A mullet...yes, you mentioned this. Hmmm, are you going to go for it?! :)

I have high hopes that you will be back to running in no time and you won't lose any of that tight body or running fitness!

time alone with Joe! Ah, this will be so nice for you!

Gosh, I hope you and I get to meet up someday for a cocktail or two! Then we can be real life friends! xo

It will be so nice to go on that getaway! You surely deserve it! Enjoy!

How awesome for your girls! I am so curious as to how young you got your kids on skates... especially since your son was so proficient at the age of 2! Not sure if you saw my post about taking MY 2-year old skating a couple of weeks ago... she loved it but totally didn't get it :P

I really hope your foot is back to feeling healthy super soon ...I think you'll be surprised at how quickly you get back to where you want to be :) Don't worry about comments... lol... I know you are checking in on all your bloggy buds!

I love the pushup/bathroom floor/Janice situation. That is completely hysterical!
Good luck getting back into your running shoes ASAP... And have fun on your weekend getaway, sounds like a blast!

OK, so I was having a heart attack over here thinking about your foot, and you were bad a$$ing push ups in the bathroom? Seriously, I am so happy the foot is nothing major. You will come back stronger, Jenn, this week off was like a mini taper.
Only 1 week of work in April, what will you do with yourself? Are you going to drive to work for push-ups? Speaking of that, can't wait to hear how the challenge went.

You should have encouraged Janice to knock out a few with you....

Push ups in the bathroom! That is getting the most out of your time. Awesome.

Have fun at the hockey tournament! Congrats to your girls!

The trip up Duluth sounds like tons of fun! Enjoy your quieter month.

Yeah.......how many push ups CAN you do? =D....while putting your face 1 inch from the bathroom floor?? It must not be a coed bathroom...
I might have sugeested to Janice that I was doing a sanitation inspection =D

A mullet. Be afraid. Very afraid. They were soooo fashionable in high school, though. With a little perm.

It's very very hard to wait it out. I know you will be SO excited to run on a fresh foot Monday. And you know you won't lose an ounce of fitness...I won't suggest waiting three weeks though. ;)

Have an awesome weekend, Jenn. Very awesome to be doing that during your "rest". Have fun!

You are super dedicated! I hope your foot feels better!
My brother who once sported the lovely mullet refered to it as 'Business in the front and party in the back'!

Just don't go MIA on the blog world like you did when you had a stress fracture...you should tell your new posse how you actually didn't BLOG for months after Boston last year and how much I missed you!!

There's a teacher here at school with a mullet - I personally just want to grab some scissors and just cut that damn thing off! Please don't make me come to MN and do it to your son, too. Well, it would be fun though - especially now that your liquor cabinet is restocked (YAY!!).

Have a blast this weekend, good luck to the kiddos!!

A week off will be fine for you. I had about 7 days off running for a few reasons and i picked up where i left off. I dont know the extent of the foot issue but the biggest thing i see in athletes is more midfoot/forefoot issues with people forcing the lighter shoes. As i said, no idea what's going on but if you can get a sturdier shoe it could help.
Have fun at Blaine:) Hopefully no more SNOW!

That pushup story cracked me up!! you gotta get them in when you can though...love what you said after you saw her again!! so funny!

OH Man!!!! HILARIOUS! That pushup story reminds me of ME so much! I got into a bet with two of my Brother in laws that if I can do 100 pushups they'll each pay me $100. So I've been heading back to the printer room at my office to bust some out PRAYING my boss doesn't come back there. Thankfully he's too busy playing Free Cell to get off his lazy bum so I've been good to go. That you put gloves on just makes me howl with laughter. But seriously...how many can you do. hahahah.

I don't know what I would have done if I opened the bathroom door and saw my dental assistant doing push ups on the bathroom floor. In our small state it turns out she is the governor's wife so it is even harder to imagine. Very funny!

I hope you're having a FUN weekend with the family and the hockey, it's probably good timing for the foot, although I know it makes US all crazy not to be doing what we were born to do!!
Monday will be here in two short days and you'll be blazing along once again!
Have a great rest of the weekend!!

Of all the blog I follow, yours always makes me smile. I too unfortunately end up having to explain the most oddball things...ha!!!!

Good on you for the athletic prowess of your kids...no doubt hubby tries to take the credit (I do in my cave).

Have fun with the mullet. My younger lad is growing his hair for 'Angle Hair for Kids" for the third time. It's just hair Jenn...t grows back and they get tougher with all the comments kids make. If he is brave enough to do it..let him go...

thanx for the post, always makes my day!

ps...have you ever tried to lose the word verification? I have...got maybe 5 spam emails to make me feel wanted!!!

Please note....I am posting this on a netbook and I have fat fingers...so that is "Angel hair for Kids" and I also follow blog"s" not a blog...and I am having a beer....more beer, more beer!!!!....ha!!!

i seriously can imagine what i would do if someone walked in on me doing push ups in a bathroom! you are so funny!!!!

and mullets, really? my husband has threatened a time or two, but never followed through with it...lets hope the trend doesn't actually come back...

Haha! The push-up story is great! :)
Growing up, we always called mullets "hockey hair". Are all the boys on his team wearing their hair like that, or is it just him?
Enjoy your non-hockey related trip to my neck of the woods! There are so many awesome places to eat in this town, I'm sure you'll have some amazing meals!
