'Tis Winter

"Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland...." That would definitely be WALKING, not running. Actually, not even walking, more like falling the second I set foot out of my front door this morning. OUCH on the tailbone and my kids had absolutely NO sympathy for me! I could hear them bellering from the car and not one of them came to my rescue....they are their father's children....Anyway, we got a glorious DUMPING of snow last night! Coupled with the fact that we also have 35 mph gusts and the snowplows aren't running, I am potentially bound to my treadmill for the weekend. This is actually OK. I've managed to do most of my running outside and it's almost Thanksgiving!!

As soon as they clear the roads, I will be out in this again! Don't be jealous now....(pic is from last year as I am not NEARLY organized enough to have a Christmas tree up yet)

Hockey, hockey, hockey! Nonstop from this day forward. We'll hit 4 games this weekend, 8 next weekend! My kids will combine for over 100 hockey games this season in which I will consume approximately 200 Caribou Coffees, 100 bags of concession stand popcorn with extra salt (poison) and numerous other impulse buys including licorice ropes and sour skittles! I will also have the opportunity to run in approximately EVERY city in the state of MN and get chances to shop in stores other than Ben Franklin and Pamida!

Thank you for the shoe advice. I am indecisive so now have 3 pairs coming to my doorstep. Merry Christmas to me!! Actually, I won't keep them all as much as I would like too!

Anyway, the day has begun and I must tackle my "to-do" list!

Good Luck to all those racing this weekend. Extra shoutout to ERG who is running a half marathon in Eugene, Oregon tomorrow. I'm SUPER excited to hear how it goes for her! Later!

wow--they're not plowing yet? when does that start? hasn't snowed (significantly) here, but i'm sure that its heading this way :)

i suppose sometime i need to breakdown and get a mask like your's. the scarf that i wrap around my head a million times ends up getting all moist from my breath and then freezing solid. super fun.

yay for hockey!

Woman you are crazy to run in that weather...but obviously it must be working:) I am mad at your kids for not helping you out! You guys are the hockey all-stars and you are so stinkin busy. I don't know how you do it all. Enjoy the treadmill and don't go outside too much.
Loved the confessions...I am tempted to send you some pretzels and AB in the mail:)

i remember that picture. i was just about to ask how its possible you have the same exact picture from last year and why the tree was up already.

our snow melted but im still sticking to my treadmill. too cold and im pretty sure the wind will knock me down. the other day we had 80mph winds, no joke.

WOW. Okay. I'm going to stop complaining about how cold DC is when it drops to the 30s at night and I'm still wearing a skirt...

I'm SO not ready for winter!

Ouch. When your kids laugh at you scare them with that running mask. In the middle of the night.

i love your posts! I always look forward to them (well, in my measly 4 weeks in blog land). I'm so glad that isn't a recent picture and you really DON'T have your tree up yet. :) HOckey...I don't even know if anyone in Oregon plays Hockey...maybe. That is so cool that each state has their own "culture" if you will..I've read several blogs recently written by people "up there" in your neck of the woods and Hockey is Huge! So cool. Oh, and I LOVe Caribou Coffee...I think I had some in Kansas City. good luck out there...I love running in the elements...makes me feel tough and alive! Treadmills are good but there is something about just getting outside even if it does mean being labeled "crazy". :) When I lived in Colorado I used to love running in the snow and coming back with red cold legs but a warm body from running. of course the roads need to be plowed for that. I know this is soooo long but you always leave the best comments on my blog so I don't feel so bad with my wordiness. :)

Oh, and what is up with those kids not coming to your rescue? Are you usually dramatic and so they just tuned you out? ;) My kids wouldn't come for me either. Hope your tailbone feels better and those winds slow down so you can run outside again.

Your new winter racing name will now be "The Purple Ninja."

Enjoy.

So jealous of your mask! Although I got caught in a hail storm the other day and decided that the treadmill is for me when it comes to wind and frozen rain. I'm a sissy.

you are a lot braver than I am- once the snow hits I pretty much stay inside for my runs...luckily I can ski to get outdoor time.

Love the outfit :)!

Thanks for the shout out!!

Our power has been blinking on and off for the last 2 days and is driving me crazy (and away from the computer). Why is the power blinking? Because we are getting a TON of rain and it causes the mud to slide down the "beautiful" mountains and causes trees to fall on the power lines. But i LOVE it here and it rarely freezes. Tomorrow I should enjoy 37F rain with a "real feel" of 33F. Ha ha!

I will think of you when I race, and may consider the SWEET face mask you are wearing there. Do you think it would go well with my regular glasses? :D

Stay safe- don't pull any muscles running on ice! Do you wear yak trax or similar?

LOL. i would not be excited about snow. i am not a cold-weather person! i'll take my still-60-in-november temps thanks ;)

Hi Jenn,
Great picture:) Are you coming to Maple Grove for hockey? Let me know...we can go shopping together:)

So you finally got snow too! I am not looking forward to the mill! It is just too darn dark when I get home and I get up early enough. I can only run outside on the weekends and on Wednesday, my day off. Oh joy, winter is officially here:)

Have a great weekend Jenn!

Thought of you today on way home from Peoria; a hunter was on his way home with a wrapped deer on his scooter hitch thingy!

Sorry about your fall, I hope you're not hurting any longer!

Have fun at all the hockey games! It sounds exhausting to me but getting to run in so many places is fantastic and I know your kids have such a great time, so I imagine you do too!

Good luck to the kids this weekend!

I LOVE that scary running mask. I just want one, JUST BECAUSE!
Sorry about your slip, kids can be so cruel...and you are always such a loyal hockey mom, grrrr!
Finally, have a fun weekend, I'm glad you're going to run indoors and enjoy those games!
