Hotdish DEFINED and Week in Review!

HOTDISH The more north in Minnesota you get, the more of a mystery "Hotdish" becomes. What exactly is that meat...hmmm?? Squirrel perhaps? For clarification, hotdish is not a frequent meal in this house-GAG!!! Potato sausage either! Actually, ANY kind of sausage. I don't even like the SOUND of the word sausage-again GAG!!! NEVER, I repeat NEVER eat anything but Rice Krispie bars at a church potluck in Minnesota! I'm kidding-kind of.....

I'm thinking my first giveaway should be a facemask! Only thing is I want to pick the winner prior to the comments and I want it to be Meg! Yes, not only do I want Meg to win my scary facemask, I also want to send her a deer hide bomber hat! Why you ask? Just because!!!!! Ha! Thankyou for the nickname "Purple Ninja" Jamoosh! I feel very tough now and think to be true to my name I'll start running with nunchucks instead of pepper spray!

My mini ninja out to play!! (I don't let him play with nunchucks)

Super congrats to ERG on her WICKED fast half marathon this weekend. Check out her race report! SUPERSTAR!!

My weekend was BUSY! My husband travels for work and is in Minneapolis so I was the token cheerleader for two of my kids this weekend! I love watching my kids play sports. My oldest is 12 and a half and she is a fierce competitor! I LOVE it! Next weekend we are blessed with the rarest of occurences as two of my kids are in the SAME hockey tournament (different levels). This means we actually get to be together as a family-Woohoo!

Moving on to the running and my week in review

52.28 Total Miles

Monday- 4 miles outside easy

Tuesday- 5.58 miles outside am(7:45), 4.5 miles pm(w/u,3 miles @7:07 avg, c/d)

Wednesday - off

Thursday - 7 miles with 4X1600 (6:53, 6:44, 6:35, 6:40)

Friday - 8 treadmill (8:06)

Saturday - 6 easy outside-lots of snow on the road (8:15)

Sunday - 17.2 treadmill (7:55) I was only planning for 15 but felt remarkably good so I kept going until I had to drive to town and pick up my son. I got some confidence from this run as the first 5 miles were well over 8 minutes and I comfortably picked up pace. I notice the treadmill and the road feel much different to me after being on the trail so much....

My winter running is much different than my summer/fall running. Almost all of my winter running is done on a flat straightaway road. The only real hill workouts I get have to be done on the treadmill. There are a couple of bridges I incorporate into my routes but they aren't really much. For now, I think I will stick to roughly 50 miles per week until the new year. When I get into marathon training I would like to be closer to 70 but for now 50 is about what I want to tackle.

I kept no record of my strength and core workouts this week. I was pretty much a fail as far as any real quality strength. Frankly, I'm not overly concerned about this right now. Just enjoying the ride for awhile.

Could this post be any more jumbled. I just write what comes to mind and obviously in whatever order it comes!

So, I best be productive here and instead of folding laundry or making supper I will now catch up on commenting on all your blogs!! I'm a little behind here! Happy Monday all!

Note to self. Track down Mini Ninja's Uncle; suggest nunchucks for Christmas gift...

Sausage, sausage, sausage. I kind of like the sound of that. But maybe it's because I don't own a deer hide bomber hat.

Wow! I learn something new everyday! No thank you to Hotidsh! In fact, I NEVER eat anything at potlucks. I'm a germaphob when it comes to people and their cooking - if I haven't seen your kitchen or seen you cook, I can't eat it! Hahaha!
NICE week girlie! Stay warm!

I'm with Katie A. I avoid all things cooked in kitchens that I've never been in. You just never know....

My jaw DROPPED when I read your Sunday. Oh My. That is beyond unfathomable to me...a TM long run? I can't even hack 4 miles on it yet!

Squirrel...ha! Next time I am in Minnesota for a potluck I will grab the rice krispy treat pan and head for the corner:) I love the way you write!
Great weak of running! Your Sunday long run rocked. Don't you love when you go longer than you have planned....in our crazy minds that is our idea of heaven.
P.S. your comments made me cocky, thanks girl! If I can look half as good as you I consider that a win.

Hotdish. Sounds scary. Suspicious. Mysterious. I'd steer clear unless it was a dare.

17.2 on the TM. You've got to be one of the more devoted runners out there girl!

What an awesome week of training. I need to come for your thursday workouts! I probably couldn't keep up but I could try and that would be good for me. I'm impressed! You're fast!

Hotdish sounds disgusting lol. Congrats on a great running week!

you had a great treadmill run cause you were dreamin' about all the food 5 feet away from you in your kitchen! ;)

it has been a long time since i've run long on the treadmill... it's nice, but you definitely have to get into it mentally!

as for a hotdish - that must be the secret to maintaining your hot figure!

wow, those are such impressive runs and paces. you are officially my rock-star idol. thanks for the clarification on hot dish...

and i love that after 15 miles on a treadmill you felt so great that you wanted to do more :) i always have to talk myself into a treadmill run and then break it into manageable distances. i'm pretty sure the only reason i would keep running would be if there were an amazing show on tv...and even then, the couch sitting right there always looks so enticing...

Great mileage this week and THANKS for teasing me with a face mask give away. Thanks a lot. I think I'd wear it to scare my husband around the house but could you imagine how sweaty it would get with me running, drooling and wheezing inside it??? Just the same, I'd have fun pretending I'm YOU. Fast Jenn! I wish :) !

Thanks for the hot dish explanation but no thanks :) .
You keep cracking me up!
