Weekend Recap

Ahhhh! My mini vacation is over and I have to go back to work today. Work, followed by 4 hours of hockey, and then home. Have mentioned it before that I HATE Mondays?! The weekend was fairly uneventful. Friday night, Joe came home from an out of town trip. It turned out that all the kids were at sleepovers and it was just the two of us. Now, we've been married for almost 12 years. This equates to 'time to get crap done around the house' not 'time to spend some quality time with each other.' Anyway, he had to replace some part in our dryer and set off to do that as soon as he got home. I opted to skip the cleaning and hop on the treadmill. Originally, I was planning on an easy 3 or so because I was going to run long in the morning. My 3 turned into 10. I have a weird obsession with the number 10 right now. I have no issues running 10 miles, I could do it every day. As soon as it becomes 11 my brain tells me it's a marathon and when I run less than 10 my brain tells me I haven't done anything. Since I'm not following a plan for a few more weeks. I will just stick with my 10 when I can fit it in during the week.

Saturday was filled with hockey. My oldest had her first district game and she was SOOO excited. Proud mama got to watch her score a goal on her very first shift on the ice! I LOVE watching my kids' games. It was also the high school scrimmagefest. Everyone in town flocks to the "Memorial Arena" for this. I don't know if I could ever describe how hockey crazed my town is. There are 2500 people. Our teams play in the highest division in the state of Minnesota. Last years girls team produced 5- Division 1 full ride scholarships and our boys have won the state tournament more times than any other team I think. This little town has multiple players currently in the NHL. What this means is, as soon as your child can walk, he/she can also skate. It also means parents sign their lives over to their childrens' demanding schedules if they want to be a part of the community!! Anyway, I was busy all day and opted for a nice day off from running or working out period!!

Sunday morning I got the kids off to Sunday school and picked them up early because Ryan had another game. It was a beautiful fall day in MN and I was fully prepared to hit the road running right after the game! It turned out to be one of the best runs I've had all year. I got 20 miles in and felt fantastic-finished up at 63 miles for the week. I stuck to an 8:30 pace for the most part and this turned out to be the ticket because I also feel great today! I got up early this morning and did a 20 minute core workout but I'm taking the rest of the day off! Tomorrow my daughter has practice at 5:30 am so I think I will hit the gym early before work to get it done with.

Congrats to so many who nailed their races this weekend. PR's and BQ's everywhere!!! Can't wait to read all the race reports on my lunch break!

You totally crack me up! I don't think I've ever had a day when an easy 3 turned into 10! Maybe 5, but 10?!?! You go girl!

You are super woman. 63 miles?? I don't think I've ever done that many, even for an ultra! Incredible and impressive with your kids' schedules and work! OK, you motivated me to try to eek out some more miles this week but not today...today I'm resting and I feel so guilty!
By the way, we know nothing about hockey here! I wish our kids had played but no one does, isn't that sad!?
